Muppets

Look! The Muppets have somehow taken on human form and formed the band Passion Pit. I like it.

Sleepyhead

J'accuse

I've been accused of a few things over the years by Tinsel regarding my taste in men. Some I agree with, others I don't. But here is something I think she and I can both agree on:

This posting from the funny site Dealbreaker.

It involves Mark Ruffalo. What's not to love about that man?

ps...for all 5 of our faithful readers, Tinsel Tantrum is DJing an event on December 5th! Stay tuned for details...

Hello, kitten!

Introducing Jasper Jullapat, kitten extraordinaire. He is all black,
which makes taking pictures hard. But what he lacks in photogenic
quality he more than makes up for in cute kitten happenings. Like this
old chestnut: the chasing of the tail. Or falling over onto the floor
while cleaning yourself because you don't have good balance yet.
Stuff like that.

Song of day

Hard times

Another quote from "The End of the Affair" by Graham Greene.

"I want somebody who who'll accept the truth about me and doesn't need protection. If I'm a bitch and a fake, is there anybody who will love a bitch and a fake?"

So I most certainly sound bitter hurt.

I'm not........

Blowing up

Picture taken by Kevin in NYC. I love it so much I am having him blow it up. Anyone who knows me knows I love The Stein. I named my first cat Albert and have read a couple bios on the man. This was found in the meatpacking district while I was getting drinks with my new friend Anne.

Love,

Tin

Welcome home!

We missed you, o friend of friends!

Your Pals,
Tinsel Tantrum

Love Bites...Love Bleeds

I too am reading, "The End of the Affair," because here at Tinsel Tantrum headquarters, we are team players.

My favorite quote from the book so far is this: "A vow's not all that important -- a vow to somebody I've never known, to somebody I don't really believe in. Nobody will know that I've broken a vow except me and Him -- and He doesn't exist, does he? He can't exist. You can't have a merciful God and this despair."

Cynical? Yes. But there is some truth to it.

I'm going to go kick a puppy now.

Fall is here

I am currently reading "The End of The Affair" by Graham Greene. I found an excerpt that I particularly like, or don't like but either way it made me think.

"I have always wanted to be liked or admired. I feel a terrible insecurity if a man turns on me, if I lose a friend. I don't even want to lose a husband. I want everything, all the time, everywhere. I'm afraid of the desert. God loves you, they say in the churches, God is everything. People who believe that don't need admiration, they don't need to sleep with a man, they feel safe. But I can't invent a belief."

love tin

Neil Patrick Harris is a fuckingmazing.....

My heart still belongs to Bill Paxton however Neil has my soul. I pretty much don't want to be friends with anyone who doesn't think he is one of the funniest people on earth.

Basketball is Sexual

There are about, um, 20 million reasons why I love the Blazers. Up near the top is this guy, Mr. Travis Outlaw. OUTLAW! The best last name ever. And he's a nice, southern boy who also is a baller. In other words, he's my fave. Le Sigh.

I dedicate this post to you, Mr. Outlaw. When Wells Fargo introduces your bobblehead, I'm all over that shit.

What does a $2500 jacket feel like?

Dear Diary,

I am shallow or poor or both but I did feel like a better person when I put it on. Wait I take that back I WAS a better person.

i am happy to introduce jane crawford.

i just spent the weekend in vegas. pics to follow but above all these are the 3 best things that have made me have the best week ever.

love tin,

I give up

My dear friend rick has a blog with a friend as well and, um, it's AWESOME and FUNNY. It's unfortunately named, but we can't all be "tinsel tantrums." Anyway, you should still check it out because Rick is one of the only people in this world that has given me a stomach ache because I was laughing too hard. Check it

PS, added incentive: Rick has crazy hair. When we were in college, the first time I met him I was scared because his hair is so awesome and scary and curly all at once. See above photo for a likeness of him that is actually from the New Yorker. Rick looks a lot like this.

Risotto

I made risotto at my new house the other night. Chicken & Mushroom, to
be exact. My roommate provided the wine. We live in a house with a
jasmine enclosed porch. It's wonderul. There's also a garden bed here
& I've planted tomatoes, basil, cilantro & parsley. Pretty much the
only herbs you need for enjoying tomatoes.

The risotto was especially good the next day when I pan fried it and
made it crispy.

Here's a new jacket I just bought from gilt.com -- if you want to get crazy good deals on designer clothes, follow this link

Anyway, I've been wanting a trench for awhile -- classic and chic, I'm a big girl now.

PS -- big congrats to Tinsel. She's on her way to becoming a Jam Baroness!

Poetry Post of the Month

Here is a wonderful poem by the most wonderful Jorge Luis Borges.

You Learn

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,

And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn...
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure...

That you really are strong

And you really do have worth...

And you learn and learn...

With every good-bye you learn.

Things you can never be:

Too Skinny or Too Rich. See above. This is why I'm not going to Vegas this year. So I can get to the too rich part. JK!

Ohbabyvegasssss

So I purchased my ticket to vegas for film festival today. This year since Nicole is getting ready for the bar exam I am taking my dear friend Amber. I am excited to see everyone and play!!!! In remembrance of last year here are some pics.  Nicole dancing with Todd. By far the best night was when we danced till 4am at a non-sponsored festival venue. All of Nicole's sisters came out from LA. Renee, Tan, Tin, Michelle. Again this is the night of karaoke and rad interpretive dancing.

This was the last night or I guess morning. There is a pic out there also of me, todd, nicole and christopher sleeping all heads on table. We were soon kicked out of the place.
Morgan Spurlock before I punched him in the stomach at 4 am in a bowling alley.

Here is Nicole sober and not tired. I hope she takes a look at these and realizes the error in her ways. The law is truly being broken by letting me go alone. I don't know if Amber is ready. We will see!
